A reconstruction of one of the shoes found by divers in the river Maas near Cuijk in the Netherlands. Thanks to accompanying finds (coins and
dendrochronologically dateable wood) they could be dated to 330 - 340 AD.
The shoe features a typical 4th century design, showing a low cut vamp, integral lace and a one piece cutting pattern with seams at the heel and the
toes.
